three-dimensional accuracy of different impression techniques for dental implants

چکیده
background: accurate impression making is an essential prerequisite for achieving a passive fi t between the implant and the superstructure. the aim of this in vitro study was to compare the three-dimensional accuracy of open-tray and three closed-tray impression techniques. materials and methods: three acrylic resin mandibular master models with four parallel implants were used: biohorizons (bio), straumann tissue-level (stl), and straumann bone-level (sbl). forty-two putty/wash polyvinyl siloxane impressions of the models were made using open-tray and closed-tray techniques. closed-tray impressions were made using snap-on (stl model), transfer coping (tc) (bio model) and tc plus plastic cap (tc-cap) (sbl model). the impressions were poured with type iv stone, and the positional accuracy of the implant analog heads in each dimension (x, y and z axes), and the linear displacement (δr) were evaluated using a coordinate measuring machine. data were analyzed using anova and post - hoc tukey tests (α = 0.05). results: the δr values of the snap-on technique were signifi cantly lower than those of tc and tc-cap techniques ( p < 0.001). no signifi cant differences were found between closed and open impression techniques for stl in δx, δy, δz and δr values ( p = 0.444, p = 0.181, p = 0.835 and p = 0.911, respectively). conclusions: considering the limitations of this study, the snap-on implant-level impression technique resulted in more three-dimensional accuracy than tc and tc-cap, but it was similar to the open-tray technique. key words: dental implants, dental impression materials, dental impression technique

The aim of this in vitro study was to compare the three-dimensional accuracy of open-tray and three closed-tray impression techniques. MATERIALS AND METHODS Three acrylic resin mandibular master models with four parallel implants were used: Biohorizons (BI...
متن کاملDimensional accuracy of three impression materials by one-step and two-step impression techniques: An in vitro study
Introduction: An accurate impression is essential to create a well-fitted dental prosthesis. This study aimed to compare the dimensional accuracy of three elastomeric materials using one-step and two-step impression techniques. Methods: In this study, 20 impressions were fabricated for each Vinyl siloxane ether (Identium), condensation silicone (Speedex), and a...
متن کاملDimensional Accuracy of Polyvinyl Siloxane Impression Materials Considering Impression Techniques– A Literature Review
Objectives Impression accuracy is the main determinant of the fit, form and function of prosthetic restorations. Polyvinyl siloxane (PVS) is the material of choice in most clinical situations. The purpose of this paper is to provide an up-to-date review of scientific articles which discuss the dimensional accuracy of PVS impression material using various impression techniques, tray types and sp...
متن کاملAccuracy of 2 impression techniques for ITI implants.
PURPOSE The aim of this study was to compare the accuracy of casts produced by 2 impression techniques and elastomeric impression materials commonly used for the fabrication of implant-supported fixed prostheses. MATERIALS AND METHODS A master model with 4 synOcta ITI implants placed unilaterally in place of the mandibular right central incisor, canine, first premolar, and first molar was con...
متن کاملEvaluation of the accuracy of different transfer impression techniques for multiple implants.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of three implant transfer impression techniques. Four groups (n = 5) were defined, according to the technique: TC - tapered copings without splint; SC - square copings without splint; SCS - square copings splinted with dental floss and acrylic resin, and CG (control group) - master model with four external hexagonal implants and a superstructur...
متن کاملAccuracy of two impression techniques with angulated implants.
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Accurate recording of implant locations is required so that definitive restorations are properly supported and do not place additional stress on the implants. Angulated implants may result in inaccurate impressions, and the impression technique may affect the accuracy of the definitive cast. PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to determine the effect the combined intera...
